And I like that while their situations were similar they were also quite different. And them being different from each other it means how they view and handle it is also different.

I agree. People have to realize that Aang had a very clear goal within a short time frame of about 1 year. It's easy to push yourself a little when you have a destination in place. Korra is dealing with issue after issue and has to find herself and navigate her PTSD. This writing is brilliant to me.

What these peasants fail to realize is that they have no hope without the Great Uniter. She brings peace where there was chaos.

I agree with you but it's understandable for ppl to initially think that bc like you said, that lasted exactly one episode then he recognized the greater good of "staying dead" despite that removing hope from many ppl in the world... and many other examples were resolved in a quick timeline. so many ppl see korra like this across a few episodes (and years in the show bc timeskip) and that difference in duration is why ppl might initially think aang would handle this situation "better"

I just want to point out that after Aang was struck by lightning at the end of season 2, he was injured and taken out of the game for a period of time. When we saw him in season 3, he also had an attitude about other people taking on the responsibilities that he felt he should be taking on. It was a real point of contention between him and the gang for a whole episode.... not so different from Korra feeling that way now. I think it's a completely understandable feeling for people in their positions, but I just wanted to point out that Aang would NOT have handled it "better" than Korra. It's just natural for them both with their responsibilities.

Definitely. We already saw that the air nomad squad have been overworked since the departure of the Avatar. Someone had to intervene and pick up the slack. The public has seen is Kuvira unite and fix the nation within the years without Korra- of course theyβd let her run the Earth Empire. Dictators/rulers that manage to take control when the land is in disarray tend to have more people be loyal to their cause.

It would suck to be on the front lines working hard to bring back stability and life to the Earth Kingdom just to have to give up leadership to another in a long line of horrible inept Royal leaders. Someone who knows nothing about his people or their problems and is just a political puppet for the other world leaders. It can't be denied Kuvira is restoring the power and pride of the Earth -Kingdom- Empire.
Toph still tough as nails as ever. I think she fits as a great mentor for Korra. Their personalities mesh well.

I agree with this take. I can't say Kuvira hasn't made any mistakes but at the same time she stepped up and did far more good then anyone else. Su sitting in her isolated city with her chef making her meals while the Earth Kingdom burns around her doesn't help any of its impoverished suffering citizens.

i dont like what kuvira is doing but smh at suyin and everyone else just deciding to do nothing the entire time and leaving it to one person (and her lil team) who is just physically strong to help fix the earth kingdom? if kuvira didnt do anything it'd just be airbenders overwhelmed by all the chaos in the earth kingdom. i think a number of the adults in the show are at fault

Also agreed with both of you. They captured Toph's personality so well! She's still as blunt and witty as ever, forever a Queen!!!

I think that this show really portrays Korra's recovery process realistically. She's been through so much trauma as the Avatar. While it is frustrating to see her struggling, I think it is consistent with her character and shows how human even the Avatar is.

Ya'll wildin in the beginning π Also remember how Earthbenders (Bumi, Kyoshi, Toph now plus others) are famous for growing old af but still clapping people. Smth bout them genes lmao Kyoshi was like 230 when she died, Bumi was 112, Toph is only like 86 in this? She's got many years of clappage left
