Always protecting uthred no matter what, his character was tired he lost althred and thyra and therefore had nothing left but uthred. and for uthred he truly wanted to repay him for all that he has done for him and his family. uthred's strongest bond was becca who was always his constant support even if it went against his religious belief which he upheld the most. For uthred becca represent his home. His last and only connect to bebbanburg and without him he felt he failed. He didn't even get to have his revenge on his uncle who stole it. That was taken from him and well and becca's death was the nail in the coffin. As for edward, Ælswith I take the neutral I don't feel sorry one bit for Ælswith because edward's distrust in her was the product of her doing. Everything that has transpired was because of her actions. And now she is feeling the repercussions of them. Edward was young nad no ready for the throne and had his wife and child taken him. This is why he barely interacts with his current son. Because now he is king and the weight is too much and trying to live help to althred's dream. and he doesn't have a true father figure to help steer him in the right direction. He listens to Aethelhelm to feel the father role that he no longer has. And because he is young and being influenced he no makes rash choices. and he feels and can't trust his own mother due to all the scheming she did previous. I like her character development but this didn't erase the damage done. And there has been a lot done If she truly was to make things right it needs to be with everyone he wronged. Edward and uthred especially she must earn edward's trust back. because while she does have the wisdom to guide him. She herself broke edward's trust in her and have surround him with people who only want the throne. This is not to say edward's actions are good. No there misguided he is trying too hard too be like althred but althred was older and had more experience as well has good people around to help. he was smart enough to keep people as bay sometimes to his own detriment but he would learn from it. What edward needs is his true love and his kids, he needs uthred, his sister and mother. and there needs to be reconciliation. unfortunately, he doesn't and will continue to make questionable decisions. despite his decisions he does love his family. His mother and sister especially he may get mad at them and disapproves of their actions but he will always love them.
