HELLO!!!!!!
As mentioned before, I started on a summer outfit! More specifically a summer dress because that's what twitter wanted the most. I really wanted to finish it before the end of august, and I DID!!!!!!! WOO!!!!!! Since I already have the base model, the groundwork was already done, but I did come across a few challenges here too since this was my first time editing the model into something else.
Starting from the top, the ribbons! I modelled them first in Maya, as that is my 3D program of choice still (I have yet to learn blender hhh), rigged them (I had to made lots of new bones for the moving parts of the new outfit!), and weightpainted them so they look flowy when I move my head around. Very happy with the outcome there! Also, I put the little icebear hairpin from the adventure kit I made on one of the ribbons, so Icebear is still with me at all times!
And then the HAIR!!!!! NEW HAIR ALERT!!!!!! I wanted to do a more playful hairstyle, so I made more slender twintails with swirls on the ends! IT'S SO FUN TO PLAY WITH IN VR! I'm gonna post a video where I show what I can do with it later lol, it's wild. Anyway, I had to make new bones for this too, but it was no problem, the hair was actually the easiest part to make! The weightpaint I just did automatically, and it did it flawlessly, so no pain there either!! I reused the sprinkles on the old vanilla swirl, and placed it on the new one, and instead of using the sauce I had, I just dipped the entire chocoswirl into the sauce lol.
Next up is the dress! The dress is inspired by a dress I actually made irl for myself, and I wanted to try to create it in 3D too, because the colors and patterns were so nice together! I remade all the patterns in illustrator, and just copypasted it in I tried to balance the rest of the outfit along with the dress to make a fun and colorful summer dress outfit. It ended up becoming a little bit shorter, but I like it! I had a lot of trouble trying to weightpaint the dress to the legs properly, but I think it came out okay. The shirt underneath is just an edited version of the shirt I normally have, but I removed the collar of it.
The socks are the same style as usual, but in different colors. I didn't wanna change out the mesh of the body, because when I actually did try to make both socks short, I got lots of errors and weird things, so I played it safe and worked with what I had, and I like the result! Speaking of the mesh of the body, there is something weird going on with my elbows, so I think I have to fix the body anyway D: oh well
And then last, the shoes! These are the same pink shoes I normally have, but a more colorful glitter version! Inspired by a pair of buffalo platform sneakers that look the same way! All of the textures were done in Substance Painter, so it was really easy to just edit the existing one into something else!
Ok, that was pretty much it I think! I thought of maybe debuting this model with a cover, I suddenly recorded a whole song the other day because I got a wave of nostalgia and inspiration. It's the ending of School Rumble, called "Onna no ko otoko no ko" sung by Yuko Ogura! I used to listen to this a lot as a kid for some reason lol, but I completely forgot it existed until I found it the other day! So I'm working on a video for it now!!!! I'm really excited to post it!!! I'll get back to editing video now, and I'll probably soon post something on twitter and youtube!! WOO!
Cool summer hugs from a cool ice cream person!!!!
