I know I'm late replying here but kai overall needed to be punish for real. I found it funny when he tried to mention the avatar and kai was still snatched lol.

2021-03-15 15:44:51 +0000 UTCAdding this family moment for Mako and Bolin was really great. Its easy to forget their orphans and grew up on the streets. They're also pretty much the only protagonists we haven't seen at least one parent of. At least now we have in that great picture. 'Nuktuk Hero of the South' isn't suppose to be a comedy though! The Earth Queen and Ba Sing Se is super shady business. it really does seem like the world has evolved without them while they are too busy oppressing their own citizens. A shame for a city that was originally built up to us as the prestigious capital of the Earth kingdom where citizens could be safe from the war.

2021-02-25 22:50:50 +0000 UTCThe line you were thinking of is "There is no war in Ba Sing Se", which is honestly my favourite line to pull out when someone is wantanly denying reality hahah. Yeah whilst there was still a class system in ATLA, you can see inequality has gotten worse over the years, which sort of mirrors our own societies over the past few decades. There was a mini comic released that covered the time when Aang had been hit by lightening, and in it he spoke to the past Avatars. You find out there that it was actually Avatar Kyoshi that established the Dai Li, all in order to protect the "cultural heritage" of Ba Sing Se. In the comic she expresses her regret at doing so, as having such a nebulous task has meant that they've been able to be turned into what we see them in both series, a tool by which those in power can use to indiscriminately opress their own subjects. This is honestly my favourite show, so so glad you're both enjoying it as much as you are
