Icebell 3.0 PROGRESS!

HELLO!!

I've been talking about making a 3D model from scratch ever since I started vtubing. 3D is even what got me into vtubing, through VRchat! I've been obsessed with the thought, to the point where I'm now going to school for game graphics and animation, and I feel like I'm in my element! I've already made a few "character" type 3D models, mostly just chibistyle, but I kinda feel I'm ready to do a big project like Icebell 3.0!

I already briefly started on a face last time I updated you on this, but mind you, I do this as a study at the same time, so it wont get done super fast as I'm trying to learn techniques along the way. There's SO many videos on how you make stuff in Blender because it's free, but not that much in Maya, which is the program that I use because of school. Maya has been an industry standard for a while, but with blender catching up, we might see a change! That's why I'm glad I found this video by Mark Escuadro on how you create a 3D model from a drawing in Maya, and it works really well for me!

I've set the speed on the video to 0.25, and I try to recreate what Mark is doing. As my drawing is different, I have to make some changes along the way, but I can still follow what he's doing without problems! The hair I had to wing a bit more, but I think it turned out great! I'm curious if it'll work alright when I rig everything, but I don't think it'll be difficult to alter things if I have to.

I'm so excited to get this done so I can make crazy outfits lol, vroid was limiting me a bit. With this I can actually do whatever I want!!! WOOO!!!!!!!! If you wanna try this yourself, I really recommend Mark's video, but he does take a very "freehand" approach to making a 3D character (which I like). Usually you use at least both front view and side view to create a character, that way you have the profile of the character too, but in this video Mark kind of just imagines how it'll look from the side, but you could just add that if you want!

Ok that's all I got for this time, I'm gonna start working on the rest of the hair!
