TBH I hated the whole 'emily being mad at Bojack and throwing him under the bus' arc for the same reasons yall mentioned. Bojack tried to help Todd and them get together, he wasnt interested, she hit on him at the bar while he was minding his own business and basically said todd didn't go for her, and then after sleeping with him implied "Bojack was horrible for this" foh lol...

Like the Closer(Candice Bergen(Murphy Brown)) had said about how Bojack hurts Todd, maybe he self sabotages because he doesn't feel like he deserves friends. He always wants something to point to that he can put outside of himself. So maybe people being 'ruined' is just something outside himself to point to, because he's afraid to be in that real of a relationship--to be seen by and see someone in a fully compassionate way. Sort of thought about the makeup thing. I've got vitiligo and giving up caring about it was one of the best things I've done. Of course, this isn't stigmatized to the same degree as no makeup, however, it's been nice. I groom I shower--if my having patches of discolored skin is upsetting to someone else I don't have time to be worried about it.
