I think that with luck the problem is that yes he has a strong will but he is also always fighting his bloodlust. He has always been on the edge of fighting everyone, mixed that with the elf's anger...well I imagine it made it harder for him to fight it off when the elf is doing something he also wants. As for yuno, well he has the soul of an unborn elf inside of him so I'm not sure the elf could actually take over
