Excellent reaction as usual. I agree that it seems like relationships these days are very transactional - I did this for you so you do that for me mentality. It’s unfortunate, as it shows that people are missing the bigger picture of what relationships are and can be. Part of it is society moving more and more into consumerism but part of it is also just having fewer and fewer personal relationships. We’re in a hookup culture that doesn’t really celebrate forming lasting, healthy relationships. There’s nothing wrong with hooking up if that’s what you want to do but it seems like that’s all people really want to do, while at the same time lamenting the lack of fulfilling love. Instant gratification is the name of the game now. It’s sad. I’m not sure it’ll be able to go back or if it even should, as things inevitably change and I may just be having a hard time adapting. I could be wrong about all of it though- I’m no expert on relationships. The one thing I really like about this show is that the side characters actually get to grow. It’s a really cool thing to see and the fact you both are so invested in them is great. Keep being awesome!

The joke was the director said something like "we're not making Casablanca here" and the understandable takeway from that is "we know we're making a shitty movie", but instead the director was being overly-literal and meant something like "we aren't currently making Casablanca" and that's where the confusion in BoJack came from
