Glad you guys are loving this show! Very emotional episode. Finally freed Thyra! Ragnar getting his revenge was great and completely an understandable reaction. Love Uhtred and Ragnar’s relationship. Sucks seeing them reunite and then having to split up.

2020-12-11 08:25:18 +0000 UTCNo doubt we will see consequences for Uhtred's sparing the Brothers Erik & Siegfrid and Alfred marrying his daughter Aethelflaed to the new Lord of Mercia, Aethelred. Guthred got off lucky, he betrayed Uhtred but he knows he must atone for his actions. We also got to see formation of Uhtred's band of warriors, Finan the Irishman, Sihtric the Bastard, the towering Clappa, the warrior Nun Hild as well as seeing the formidable Saxon Steapa in combat, the man is a beast in battle.

It's a good way to end the first part of the season as you ladies may not know, each season adapts two books from the Saxon Chronicles, the series The Last Kingdom is based on. Uhtred is in a good place going into the 2nd half of S2, he is good with Ragnar & Brida, avenged his family, liberated from slavery, rescued his sister and married Gisela. He maybe bound to Alfred's service but he does have his confidence, only Uhtred could help secure the North's loyalty to crown of Wessex and bringing the dream of United England closer.

It understandable why she would hate Ragnar & Uhtred for abandoning her to this fate. Beocca comes in clutch by helping her and comforting the poor girl. She agrees to go back to Wessex with her brother and Uhtred leaves Northumbria, having fulfilled his oath to avenge his family.

Uhtred & Ragnar unite and lead their army of Danes and Saxons against Kjartan & Sven at the Battle of Dunholm. Their combined forces triumph over Kjartan's forces and Sven gets the Ramsay Bolton treatment, torn apart by Thyra's hounds. Ragnar duels Kjartan and finally gets vengeance for his father, mother, grandfather and Thyra by killing Kjartan. Also it's poetic justice that since he killed his father dishonorably, Ragnar denies Kjartan a warrior's death, no Valhalla for you.

Unrelated- it’s sad that only the film makers gave a thought to Sihtric’s feelings when Ragnar was slaughtering his father. Like there wasn’t even a second thought about him by Uhtred or the others. I know he wasn’t a huge fan but it was still his dad.
