Like you have African Americans because their race is African, but they are American citizens just like these Eldians are Marleyan citizens -- though obviously second-class citizens. The characters we know on Paradis Island are also of the Eldian race, but they are not Marleyan. When Gabi (the young warrior girl) talks about proving that not all Eldians are bad, it's akin to trying to prove that not all Africans are bad -- it's racial, not anything to do with their country or who they're fighting for. She's doing this to try to show Marley that Eldians can be trusted, so that Marley will treat Eldian citizens better and let them live outside of internment camps. She hates the Eldians on Paradis because they do the opposite, as long as they are a dangerous enemy Marley will never trust Eldians.
