It's not a requirement for a commitment to be made or to last. BoJack constantly tries to fill his loneliness and address his fears with things that give him momentary happiness or dull his ability to think. It's one of the saddest things about him.

While I understand that line of thought, I also feel it's situational. If you're already challenging yourself, then the last thing you need is someone else trying to push you cause then that creates self doubt and anxiety. But if you're content with your life and DON'T want to grow, it's probably not the best method of care. Damn I love this show. Lol.
