Jimmy isn't even aware of the fact that he's been avoiding all thoughts/feelings about chuck since his death. He lacks self knowledge (ironically this is probably due to spending so many years trying to be 'reformed' to win his brothers respect) and sadly he is simply trying to avoid the painful reality of Chuck's death. Also he accused Kim of thinking he was "the kind of lawyer guilty people hire" which is exactly how betsy kettleman described him back in season one, so that must have cut pretty deep. Maybe he even agrees with it on some level. Either way it's a pretty interesting little throwback that the writers included.
