he did't hire the first builder becouse he was bragging about how he was buiding under the border and that showed gus he wasn't trustworthy

Dog House! That's where Jesse sold meth at one point in BB. He also bought a gun there when he was worried Tuco would kill him and Walt off.

Stuff has to marinate to be evocative the way they do it on this show. For me, it's masterclass.

Walt ruined everything, but he was so good at it.

I love the actress that plays Francesca. She does a good job playing the sweet pure version of the past and the beaten down shell of a human being in the present. :)

The flashforward was shot on film like Breaking Bad as opposed to digital to make it seem like its from that time frame, complete with the shaky cam and everything. Such a nice touch

also the burner phones are a big deal because this is 2003

The reason the show feels so short and like it flies by is there are far less scenes than an average show. The scenes themselves are much longer, paced a lot slower - but there are less of them, and often the plot takes smaller steps forward each episode. Most shows would cover what Saul does in about 20 minutes (but with way less detail and quality and effect)

It all goes back to the "Saul Goodman is a suit of armor" idea. Jimmy is scared of feeling more pain and trauma, and goes to great lengths to hide from that. It's very human and makes him a lot more sympathetic than Walt, imo.

Therapy is a pain to get results on, because there's only so much a therapist can do and then you're on your own 95% of the week. I'm sure Jimmy sees therapists as just a different kind of grifter, con artists, preying on suckers.

Fun fact, there is a massive pine tree forest in the american southwest. I live in Flagstaff, Arizona and there are pine trees everywhere! So yeah, there are definitely pine trees in New Mexico. I hope that clears that up.

I think Jimmy's logic for tearing up the phone number right then and there was that he saw Howard in a bad state and Howard said he saw his therapist often(twice a week is very often) so he assumes that either therapy doesn't work or has a negative effect even. And this assumption isn't completely wrong, it's common in therapy for you to get worse before you get better, it's often necessary in the process. You can also tell that Jimmy does not have a high opinion on therapists either, him calling them "shrinks" on more than one occasion and not wanting to admit to Howard that it was recommended to him(and instead pretending it was for a client) shows that he thinks seeing one is somehow shameful, I think Chuck shared this opinion as well but I don't quite remember, something about him not being "crazy" when someone suggested he see a therapist(when obviously you don't need to be crazy or abnormal in any way to benefit from therapy).
