Subaru made an ass of himself in front of pretty much every infleuntial person in the kingdom. This gave him an uphill climb trying convince anyone to take a risk on him. I mean best case scenario he's telling the truth and you're going into a dangerous situation against an unknown foe worst case it's a trap that he's using to eliminate the competition.

What i noticed is that younger males and females are both blaming candidates while mature men blame subaru for being weak and not having enough worth. A lot of guys go through something similar around their early 20s where their self worth in society is so minuscule but want many things to go right. This is where the cut off someone being a man and a boy. Subaru is still a boy but his situations are forcing him to mature.
