His main goal is to validate himself–the ‘nice’ things he does for Kim are because her approval makes him feel good about himself. He isn’t really looking out for her as much as maintaining his stream of admiration. The only times when he actually does something good are when it becomes obvious to him that he has corrupted something so he needs to move himself back to a place where he can tell himself he’s a good guy.

Again, he told her multiple times he will come up with his half, she is not to help him. What do you mean "he works her"? He has never worked Kim lol. He has done nothing but help her, got the Kettleman's to go back to her, got her Mesa Verde back....
