The problem with your argument is that she doesn't know why Subaru is willing to stand up for her so much. She doesn't know what he's done for her or why he would be obsessed with her this much. What she does know is that she asked him to not come to the palace and he broke that promise. Everything that happened after is kind of his fault for not listening in the first place. He did it out of love, but it was still the wrong thing to do.

The council even said that after seeing how passionate Subaru was about her, that she surely must be a worthy candidate. She, dismisses Subaru in front of everyone instead of going along with a fairly ingenious plan. For some reason Roswaal didn’t step up for her, or Julius (I under why he didn’t given he backs another candidate. Although given that he’s sketchy for tryna woo Emilia) Then, she is upset with Subaru for actually benefitting her simply because she didn’t want him to. Lol. She assigns selfish intent to him even though he just got humiliated by her and then beat up directly as a consequence of her actions. Unless Subaru is some kind of hardcore masochist, that should be quite evident his motivations are selfless. Selfish? Bruh. Because he wants her to win? So does she. And given what all the other candidates said Emilia clearly is the only one with her heart in the right place. With the green haired one in close second. I’m not even going to address the rest of the argument. Most of it afterwards was Subaru’s mental break down triggered by the heart ache Emilia’s accusation wrought upon him.
