Also you can't blame Rebecca for her comment, she was kept in the dark about everything and was used as a pawn in this battle between brothers. Jimmy lied to get her there and all she sees is Jimmy and Kim having champagne over tearing down a mentally ill man. You're right, she doesn't know the whole story, but you can't blame her for seeing it as she is.

I love your reactions ladies

I have a few things I wanna say before I get into my main comments:
1) These reactions are one of the highlights of my week, and I think that you guys are super smart, insightful and fun to listen to. I don’t want to come off as aggressive like the people you mentioned at the start of the video. I just love this show so much and want to talk about it and hear other people’s thoughts on what I have to say.
2) Chuck is a really awful and unpleasant person. He hates watching Jimmy succeed. He carries a really childish hatred for Jimmy which has sent him on a path to destroy his own brother. Even Michael McKean, the actor who plays Chuck, has said that he dislikes him.
3) The genius of this show is that I really can switch perspectives and see how each brother views the other. Sometimes I get extremely angry with Chuck, and other times I’m angry with Jimmy. It is a really beautiful thing. It might also make my writing a little hard to understand as I have found myself switching back and forth between whose side I’m on while writing this. I hope it is still understandable.
With all that being said, I think y'all are really getting the wool pulled over your eyes by Jimmy here.
I think by far my biggest disagreement with you guys is about Jimmy’s stealing from his parents. Jimmy didn’t just take a few bucks from the till. Jimmy stole tens of thousands from his dad and destroyed his business. It was truly, truly gross for him to take advantage of his good-natured father like that. It is no excuse that his dad was gullible. Jimmy should have been better than that. Of course, given that Jimmy was a child / teenager (Chuck implies that Jimmy stole money from his dad for years), he should have been forgiven; but, if Jimmy didn’t learn from that experience and better himself, then maybe he shouldn’t be forgiven. I just don’t like how you guys brushed that off like somehow Jimmy wasn't as bad because his dad was easy to manipulate.
I always get the impression while watching this show that Jimmy’s life takes place in cycles. Jimmy is moving along just fine and then he gets that irresistible Slippin’ Jimmy urge to do something terrible and then Chuck, when Jimmy’s actions don’t directly hurt him, has to come back along and pick up the pieces of Jimmy’s life and/or rebuild his own life. So, I really didn’t like the idea that Chuck wouldn’t take care of Jimmy if the situation were reversed. At every one of Jimmy’s screw ups Chuck has been there for Jimmy and been ready to do what it takes to help his brother.
Chuck’s outlook is different with the tape mostly because of the severity of what Jimmy has done and because it seems like a really personal attack against Chuck. I agree with you guys that maybe the best course of action would be to just wash his hands of Jimmy and cut him out of his life, but Chuck knows Jimmy. He sees where this road ends. He knows that people will get hurt because Jimmy is a lawyer, and if he is able to stop that and get back at Jimmy for personally attacking him. He is gonna do it.
Taking care of Chuck is a noble thing for Jimmy to do, but when he also goes to such lengths to hurt, gaslight, and lie to Chuck again and again and again and again for their whole lives, the fact that Jimmy brought him his newspaper everyday doesn’t mean so much.
You guys have mentioned a few times that you think that Jimmy is a better person than Chuck because he has a good heart, but that is what people like Jimmy do. They hurt you over and over and expect forgiveness because they are sorry. Even when Jimmy is truly sorry that just isn’t enough for Chuck anymore, and I don’t think it should be enough for you either.
Anyway, ramble over. Love ya’ll!
Forrest

I'll make a second post now that I'm home and have had more time to think: Like a crazy person.
First: I'd like to address why I post in response to what you say about Chuck. I think it's because I see a lot of what Jimmy does as being designed to gaslight the viewers in a way--similar to what was done with Walter White. So for whatever reason, that triggers something in me to be like: No! It's a trap don't do it!
Second: I don't view Jimmy as taking care of Chuck, whenever they've gone to the ER Jimmy is explicitly told that Chuck needs mental help and he doesn't do anything about it. I think after Chuck's blowup at the hearing it's clear that he is very mentally ill and has been for some time. I feel, that if you love someone you sometimes have to address stuff with them that they aren't going to like and in order to take care of Chuck, Jimmy needed to get him help but he never did because he always wanted to "have his back".
Last I'd like to say I am deeply sorry if I've ever offended you guys. I find it really rewarding that you interject much more of yourselves than other reactors I've watched in the past.
If I have, please let me know and I'll chill on posting lol.
You do great work, keep it up.

It is interesting because I feel for you. I understand dealing with a narcissist. For me Chuck reminds me of the narcissists in my life that I have dealt with. But I can see Jimmy as a covert Narc as well. It is tough dealing with them so I truly do feel for you understand where you are coming from.

I loved the conversation at the intro. I’ll say that a lot of my empathizing with Chuck comes from having experienced a narcissist that was around the level of Jimmy. I can’t really get into that without spoilers so I won’t. But part of the trouble with them is that yes they are toxic and you should cut them out of your life, but there are always those memories and the way they seem to have a good heart that make it easy to make excuses for them, but eventually you realize there isn’t anything in there besides their desires for how they perceive themselves. Chuck I agree is also narcissistic and manipulative but –this may sound weird but it’s obvious and fragile, like he’s aware of his failings and to me that is at least sort of redeemable.
Anyway love these, love your opinions.

Abi and Imon are so toxic. I'm joking! I love you ladies. You do you. I'm happy to see these character discussions, and I think it's Peter Gould you'll have to get a hold of! Vince is involved as a co-creator but Peter is the other co-creator and the crator of the Saul Goodman character.

It seems like you guys missed that the guy Nacho beat up at the beginning was Krazy 8 (the guy Walt and Jesse had locked in the basement in season 1). He was even wearing his Tampico furniture shirt!

I really love these Chuck/Jimmy discussions! I think I´ve always mostly agreed with your arguments but you definitely made me look at the issue from different sides. Also, I think (or at least hope :D ) that I speak for most people when I say that it is so much better for reactors to be this passionate about a show rather than just watching it deadpan and then briefly summarizing what happened (instead of actually discussing it). I am always excited to begin my Friday morning by wathcing your BCS reactions so thanks for your content and keep up the great work!

Good reaction videos offer a lot: reactions (obviously), commentary/analysis, opinions, and the ability to vicariously re-live the first time watching something. People watching to relive tend to get the most upset if you disagree or don't react how they did. (BTW I'm not saying that's the case with this show. There's always disagreement on Chuck v. Jimmy. I'm just commenting here because it's the most recent post)

I actually appreciate your perspective on Chuck. I'm more on the fence about a lot of it because of all the grey areas. The funny thing is that I think a lot of people are a bit too soft on Chuck so it all evens out.

"Of course she doesn't know the whole story, she doesn't know, she only knows what she's seen". lol such a very meta comment right there :) Loved the reaction, love your hate towards Chuck. Looking forward to watching the series along with you. Thanks for posting the video.
