As it has pointed out in the comments already, he has kicked it before, and he knew he'd leave angry again. But perhaps the show set it up like that to show that Jimmy focuses on the "trash" to vent out his frustrations, it's part of why he ends up being a criminal lawyer. And there is more to that scene, but that will play out later.

There are lots of little hidden stories eluded to when they focus on an object. This show has many little nuances that tell a story quietly within the story.
