Catching Up

It's been a while since I last posted an update here, so let me take a little time to fill you in on what I've been up to.

Kickstarter Stuff

A big part of why I haven't been doing all that much Patreon type stuff is that we're gearing up for not one but two Kickstarters for Star Line Publishing. The first is for Twilight Tales, the first Japanese Golden Sky Stories supplement. The second is for Dragon World, a Powered by the Apocalypse RPG for comedic anime fantasy weirdness, created by yours truly. (I've also been obsessing a little about possible classes and settings for Dragon World.)

Weird Little Games

"Weird Little Games Volume 1: Being Weird Together" is an anthology book I put together of my mini-RPGs plus some bonus material. Since it includes some games that you guys helped fund, I'll be sending a discount coupon for those of you who might want to get the book through DriveThruRPG.

(Also Ben Lehman contends that I need to make a collection of solo games called "Being Weird Alone." I'm thinking about it.)

Angel Project

I came up with the idea for Angel Project a while ago, but I'm now seriously working on it. The core idea was to make a tabletop RPG loosely based on Galaxy Fraulein Yuna, but as I developed it more, Symphogear became an important influence too. The point being, it's a game where you play as cute girls who receive Angel Gear power suits to fight the forces of darkness across the galaxy. It runs on a variant of the super-simple PbtA-ish system that powers Magical Fury. It's taking a little while to finish up the first draft because I wound up writing a lot of setting info, detailing all the implausibly homogenous theme planets and such. You can see the current draft of the cover, with art by @DreamsBell (who is also doing art for Dragon World, and who has his own Patreon if you're into awesome 90s anime style art).

Spooktacular

Spooktacular is a modified retroclone of the West End Games Ghostbusters RPG. I've added a bunch of d66 tables, some rules tweaks, and my own setting info, ghost hunting gear, and game advice. I'm pretty happy with how it's looking as a game, and it's pretty much ready to go once the artwork is done.

This is Not a Card Game

I didn't make it a Patreon release mainly because it didn't really cost me any money to create, but TINACG is a weird little party card game that deconstructs/takes the piss out of Cards Against Humanity by way of surrealist creativity games (and lots of references to surrealism and pretentious art).

Kagegami High

Kagegami High got to be in a recent Bundle of Holding, which got it into something like 1,200 people's hands. Indie Press Revolution sold it at Gen Con too (along with Golden Sky Stories, Maid RPG, Schoolgirl RPG, and Magical Fury), and it was pretty awesome seeing photos people posted on Twitter. (I'm aiming to attend Gen Con next year BTW, especially since it's going to be the 10th anniversary of the launch of Maid RPG.) I started working on two new Kagegami High things: a general supplement called Kageshima Declassified, and a collection of short stories called Kagegami Days. Given how dense Kagegami High stuff tends to be, both are probably going to take quite a while, but I'm enjoying getting into working on new stuff with the setting now that the dust has settled a bit.
