After you know this and re-watch the show you start to see where it influences Killua. But it can be hard watching reactions knowing the issue and listening to people trying to get into Killua's head as to why he's running away at certain times. And Imon is correct. It's been addressed already a bit, Illumi loves his brother and it's supposed to be a protection. They just called it "training" before.
