i think taijuus mindset is that if he confesses to her she kind of really doesnt have a choice in the matter shes stuck with him because theres like 4 people on the planet and she's not gonna go off on her own, hes being very sweet by saying "im not going to trap you into a relationship with me, if we bring everyone back you can be free to say no and not worry about it if you dont like me"

It's established you have to have absolutely insane willpower or you will lose consciousness. That's why it showed Senku almost passing out every 800,000 seconds, his insane brain is the only thing that kept him conscious. Taiju's insane need to tell Yuzuriha how he feels is what kept him awake, which Senku was counting on.
