When I watched this episode and saw the lab baby scene a lot of Homelander’s behavior started to make sense. Imon, I think you’re onto something in your interpretation of the “mothering” relationship Homelander has with the VP girl, but I don’t think it’s as depraved as you suggest. The baby jealousy comes from his lack of parent substitutes in his life. It reminds me of the experiment of rhesus monkeys who were deprived of their mothers to see the effects of mother-child relationships in early development. In one version they have the small monkey choose between a metal mother sub with a milk bottle, and a mother sub with soft blanket like coat. The baby chose the blanket over food every time. Turns out that touch is incredibly important for primates.
