We have 2 Strikes on Youtube..
Added 2019-04-26 17:16:44 +0000 UTCWe got hit for our Promised Neverland reaction and the new season of One Punch Man. I filed a counter notification and pray that this will be resolved in a few weeks. But for right now we will not post FMAB or OPM on youtube until we can get these resolved. if new get one more strike the channel is lost
So we will be posting the watermark versions of each anime we watch on Patreon under the dollar tier. We cant use Vimeo and this is the safest option we have at the moment. Hope you understand and thank you for your support

Seriously though, I am a little torn about it but, I would prefer the full reaction to be on youtube because it would make it a lot easier to watch than using patreon. So functionally this is better, however I would prefer not to lose a perk either.....I propose a compromise. Put the full reactions up on the Tube from now on but, post the stuff you cut out of those (you know what I mean 😜 ) to the tiers that used to get the full eps exclusively......GIVE US THE JUICE!!!!! We wish to know your THIRST!!!

2019-04-29 17:03:05 +0000 UTCHmm.....personally I don't like it. Not at all. I find it terribly inappropriate and completely disrespectful.....how could you even think this kind of thing would be acceptable. I am thoroughly dissapointed in everything I have heard. This is nothing less than a complete betrayal! Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame!..........incidentally I did not read what this was about, what are we talking about??? 😜😁

2019-04-29 16:23:36 +0000 UTCAgreed my man. The 4 principles of fair use are too nebulous, it's kind of crazy. If it ever went to court it would just be whatever that particular judge's opinion is. You could justify just about anything with that language
Stairguy
2019-04-28 15:42:27 +0000 UTCPerhaps. Either way these are court arguments, and one could bring a case even if it were 100% fair use. Youtube just has an automatic copyright detection system to avoid these type of cases. Editting/transforming/watermarking the source footage would make it harder for that system to pick it up, and go a bit towards making a stronger fair use claim. Regardless, there is always that looming threat hanging over reactors if they use the footage, but it's also what the viewers prefer. Risk vs reward until the entire system changes.

2019-04-28 03:37:31 +0000 UTCI’m on board. I’m pretty much cool with you gals deciding whatever is best for y’all, I am along for the ride no matter what. But if u want another option for patrons I have been saying forevs that I wanna see your unedited discussion (the thirsty ones especially).

2019-04-27 19:48:47 +0000 UTCSorry, I've been busy so it took me a while to respond. I was going to post the actual law too so thanks. So you're right, the 10 minute thing is made up. But the only one of those 4 principles of fair use I could see being an issue is the length of the cut used. 10 minutes is close to half so #3 is probably the issue. #4 is not at all in my opinion. If anything I would argue that it's a free advertisement.

2019-04-27 13:07:40 +0000 UTCCould you not ask help from Blindwave? Ask them in private how they were allowed to upload their reactions to vimeo and link their reactions from their website. Maybe you have to ask permission from Viemo first befroe trying to use their website for things such as reaction uploads. I've seen some other reactor uploading full reactions with picture and sound on Vimeo and still doesn't get their account/video terminated from there.

2019-04-27 02:00:34 +0000 UTCI asked this on the youtube announcement as well, but I'm wondering how all the other patrons actually feel about having full length/timer reactions on youtube for the time being. It's been a perk here for a long time, but I wouldn't be mad if it suddenly wasn't an exclusive thing - if that format is safest for youtube then I'd prefer you guys being able to get content out to fans and potential fans, rather than be worried I'd somehow 'wasted' my money. Personally, I didn't subscribe for the perks, I subscribed to help support y'all and as long as you can keep producing and posting content, then it's not a waste

2019-04-26 23:09:21 +0000 UTCI don't understand why you got a strike? I have been putting my own reactions up and nothing. But my channel isn't as big as yours. This is slightly ridiculous. There are channels larger than you that have them up too!

2019-04-26 18:53:57 +0000 UTCI think the current Youtube just doesn't care enough to fix this type of thing, but I Imagine eventually, you will have to link your Crunchyroll account, then it allows watching these dual-overlayed videos (with individual adjustable volumes for both the reactor/video itself) and it also keeping the videos in sync with each other. Then we wouldn't have to deal with these stupid strikes anymore, but we're not there yet, so be careful =/.

2019-04-26 18:51:47 +0000 UTC"Fair Use" arguments in law have 4 major factor that get looked into when it comes to copyright: (1) "The purpose and character of your use" -- Is it a parody and different ENOUGH from the original material? Used for educational purposes? This makes it easier for news organizations to use copyrighted material without strikes. (2) "Nature of the copyrighted work" -- It's easier to copy non-fictional works, but since this is fiction, this doesn't help us. (3) "The amount and substantiality of the portion taken" -- This is where we might have large issues. It's easier to use a small portion of some copyrighted work than it is to use a large chunk. 10 minutes of a 20 minute anime is a pretty large chunk. (4) "The effect of the use upon the potential market" -- Are you taking money away from the content creators? In this case, maybe; some could argue "Why should I spend money on Crunchyroll/whatever when I can just watch these pretty ladies and the show at the same time!"

2019-04-26 18:45:58 +0000 UTC"legally show up 10 minutes of a show for review purposes" I've seen this statement before and I'm pretty sure that's not true; I think I first heard about BlindWave using this for their Game of Thrones reactions, but I think they actually tried to reach out and that was the agreement they had with HBO or some spokesperson? Either way, it was a specific agreement with one content's creator, not a blanket legal definition that applies to all reaction videos.
Claude Kenny
2019-04-26 18:37:15 +0000 UTCWell the reason they cut up the video for the reaction is because you Can legally show up 10 minutes of a show for review purposes. It is legal, that's my point. What bothers me specifically is how these companies just don't "get it." Nobody watches these reactions to watch the show for the first time. If they are it's stupid because they are missing more than half the show. This is like free advertising. People have already watched their show before watching a reaction. They're not losing any money from this

2019-04-26 18:13:04 +0000 UTCI’m so sorry this is happening to you! Youtube’s Copyright strike policy is atrocious. I’m tired of creators I love having their money stolen by large corporations and being bullied & made to fear for their channels that they’ve put so much work into. I truly feel there should be a class action suit or SOMETHING. Whatever happens, you have my support!

2019-04-26 18:01:48 +0000 UTCreactions are a tricky. its like if i made a video and you decided to react to it. if i decide that i dont want other people using my videos, i can copyright you for using my stuff. im legally allowed to since its my video and you dont have the right to use it. so technically speaking a reaction can get striked. esp with animes, some are more strict than others. some dont care and they let you do whatever, while others are like "dont use my shit". lol. thats why many have to move to other platforms to avoid those issues. edit:: thats also why reactors never upload full reactions. because they try to avoid copyright issues by cutting up the video, using transparency, stuff like that.

2019-04-26 17:22:33 +0000 UTCStrikes for what? I don't get it. How can you get a srike for not doing anything legally wrong?
