Not only joining the SC instead of the MP, but also stepping up and asking for everyone the big questions about Eren's power. It's only fair for everyone to know what they're giving their lives for. This also shows how Jean is no longer just concerned for his life, but with the lives of everyone else's. He's truly stepping up as a leader in that moment.

2018-11-24 01:16:59 +0000 UTCMarco wanted to join the Military Police to serve the king, so did Jean but he wanted to join them because he wanted to live an easy life in the interior and also since he thought defeating the titans was just out right impossible which is why he thought Eren was such an idiot. Jean choosing to join the Survey Corps is one of the pinnacle moments of his character development.
