Interesting that you brought up "Viking Santa" because I believe the character of Santa actually comes from Odin or Wodin. I also believe the pagan holiday of Yole is where we get Christmas. The early Christians had a habit of co-opting Pagan holidays and making them into Christian holidays: Christmas, Halloween, and Easter all originally coming from Pagan traditions.
