Magic Warrior Chapter 89

The , the Grey Bear and the...

One enemy is a small demon imp. It is sitting near a small hill and is unaware of us.

Monsters often carry small, three-pronged spears, but the little imp in front of us does not seem to have any weapons.

I sneak up behind her with my steel sword in my hand.

I keep the sword of silver mithril in my Magic Bag, as it is difficult to use in public places.

Suddenly, the little demon Imp turns around.

We both stopped for a moment, startled, but it seems from our reactions that we were not recognized and turned around.

With a high-pitched squeak, the Imp floated away.

The Imp has wings and can levitate, albeit slowly, at low altitudes.

From a physical point of view, I thought the wings were too small for its body, but upon closer inspection, it seems to be floating with magical power.

In this world of Virtuari, levitation magic also exists. However, the difficulty level is high, and it is possible to float only a little for a moment, but it is said that it is not possible to fly freely in the sky.

Not only is it difficult to manipulate magic, but the magic to maintain it is said to be more difficult.

However, magical researchers believe that wings are the organ that solves these conditions and are the reason why winged creatures and monsters can fly.

It is likely that wings are organs that either accumulate magic power or improve the efficiency of magic consumption.

The flow of magical power around the little demon imp changed, although it was strange that it was flying and was only somehow watching the magical power.

It seems to be chanting attack magic towards us.

"Rilfana!"

I was planning to take her down by surprise, but now that I've been discovered, I can speak up.

The sound of a whoosh of wind.

With a thud, the Imp falls to the ground. A dagger was stuck in the belly of the Imp.

It does not move as it is.

...Huh?

The dagger thrown by Rilfana is made of iron, bought at the guild.

It is low-level, but it is not stabbed in the neck or heart. The Imp shouldn't be such a weak monster.

"Ice Needle!"

I have a bad feeling about approaching it as it is, so I release an attack magic.

The most important thing to remember is that the best way to get the best out of your car is to be careful.

Four icicles attacked the fallen Imp.

Sensing the danger, the little demon Imp raises its upper body and floats up at once to avoid the icicles.

He made a squeaky voice, but it felt like he was protesting.

Do they even play dead or something...?

"Wind Blade!"

A blade of wind released by Clare from the side cut through the  Imp. Once again, the little demon Imp falls with a spray of blood.

It is still twitching, but it doesn't seem to be acting.

I don't have the hobby of tormenting them, so I tore them to pieces.

Unlike in games, monsters don't only act mechanically, but what did they want to do?

The little demon imp is a monster with low intelligence, but if you thought you were no match for it, you could have just run away, couldn't you? No, if he had shown his back and ran away, I would have defeated him with magic.

"Let's see, do I just take its horns and go home?"

"Yes, I've heard you can use your fangs."

"Why don't you just cut them off with your sword?"

...This is a pattern in which the steel sword, which was made with a certain amount of effort, is also used to great effect in the chore side.

The horns of the Imp are black. If they were big enough, they have a swirling shape that could be disastrous.

"I wonder what this hole was?"

I look into the hole from which the little demon imp came out.

Inside it was clearly man-made, with a stone floor and stone walls visible. The hole seemed to have been made a little higher up in the wall, and the Imp seemed to have entered and exited through it.

The visible area is wide enough to be considered a passageway and leads to the front.

Near the hole we were looking through, there were some rags and leftover food, as if the Imp had been living there for a while.

There are traces of a passageway leading off to the left, but the wall has collapsed and is buried.

"Ruins?"

"Lighting!"

Clare picked up a pebble from underfoot, applied a lighting and gave it to me.

"It looks pretty big. I can't see anything at all."

I checked that there was nothing near the entrance and threw the glowing pebble into the back of the room.

And I can confirm that the back of the passage is as wide as the room.

"If it's a ruin, there won't be any gray bears, but what should we do?"

"It's close to town, and I think there's a good chance that another entrance has already been found."

"Well, I think the request should take priority."

Rilfana is right, I think it is highly unlikely that this is an undiscovered site, and it would be good to ask at the guild.

I'm curious, but neither of them seems interested in exploring, and we'd have to widen the hole to get in from here, so we're not going to go in here.

After taking a lunch break, we searched for bears for a while, collecting medicinal herbs and bark.

"It's not easy to find one."

"I didn't say it was such a rare monster."

"Sis, do you want to go deeper into the forest?"

After entering the forest a little, we moved along the town road, so we didn't go deeper into the forest.

Maybe that's why we only encountered wolves a few times - from Feld Village, there shouldn't be any wolves in the forest to the north, but they seem to inhabit the area up here.

It's been a good amount of time since lunch, so if we go further into the forest now, we'll probably be late getting back.

I'm prepared, but I don't really want to set up camp.

"Let's go a little further and if we don't find anything, we can go back to town today. There's still plenty of time for the request to be due."

The request is due at the end of March, so in this world Virtuari has until the 28th.

I still need to return to Feld Village, but there is still more than a week to spare, so there is no need to rush.

...I thought.

"There they are!"

A little further into the forest, I spotted a gray bear approaching the river and drinking water.

The gray bear, perhaps recognizable by its scent, rose on its hind legs towards us and roared with a heavy bass sound.

It looked small when it was drinking water because it was bent over, but when it stood up it was much bigger.

"I'll go and take it down."

I don't want to attack it again and again or use magic to hurt it, as the request seems to require its internal organs.

It's not much stronger than a Demon Spider, and it would be better to have Rilfana spank it with a dagger.

The gray bear made a gesture as if it were taken aback by Rilfana approaching it as if taking a walk.

Rilfana accelerates rapidly from around the front of the gap, and when she approaches at once, she cuts off the neck of the bear, which had been caught off guard.

...Yeah, it was more difficult afterward than taking it down.

"We don't even know the parts of its internal organs, and don't we need to bring it all back?"

"Sis, Rilfana-chan, you said you would buy the skins as well, so I guess we have to deal with the skins too?"

"Oh, oh."

At any rate, the river was right next to the house, so the water was easy to use.

The dismantling could have been done on the spot, but sometimes wolves would come by, perhaps attracted by the smell of blood, and we'd have to work on that as well.

By the time we had finished dismantling the additional wolves and returned to town, it was starting to get dark, and we were told at the gate that it was after the 2pm bell had rung.

The Magic Bag has really helped me. Without it, we would have had to carry the bear, and it would have been much later.

"So, after we report back to the guild, we'll have dinner?"

"Yeah!"

I took it to the guild's buyback counter to report.

It was my usual brother, so he immediately processed the completed request and bought the extra material.

There were two requests to kill a small demon imp and a gray bear, and three requests to collect medicinal herbs, bark and sap, so the total reward was one small gold coin, three large silver coins and two small silver coins.

With the large amount of magic bags being transported, my brother was surprised that I was earning so much money that it was difficult to believe that I was D Rank.

It seems that almost no adventurers do three or four requests at the same time, as if they were doing them all at once.

Some of them do at least some collecting on their way home to add to their rewards, but it's not as if they can pinpoint and bring home the items attached to the requests.

"Oops, looks like you've met the conditions for C Rank promotion. Take it to reception as soon as possible."

"Thank you."

"You just said you were active just a few days ago. I've never seen you promoted this fast before."

The brother gives you back your guild card, and you move to the reception desk.

"Congratulations. You have met the requirements for promotion, so you will be C Rank. Please flow the magic item to renew your card."

The woman at the reception desk who was operating the Magic Item informed him and returned his card.

"Once you become C Rank, you will no longer need to come to this reception for requests that can be reported at the purchase counter. However, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions."

This is a bit of a troublesome system because the receptionist wants to hear what you have to say to help newbies, which is what we heard in Mineina.

"And you'll be able to join a team of adventurers in the guild. I can always explain it to you, but would you like to hear it now and go?"

I glanced at Clare and saw that she looked hungry, so I decided to ask her next time.

When I looked at the noticeboard before, the C Rank request seemed to take a long time because there were also requests to go to the royal capital and the town of Algine, which is west of Gardia.

So I would like to go to Feld Village once to show my face before receiving the C Rank request. Before heading to the village, I'll ask about the ruins I found and the team.
