Update about some Patreon changes

Hey guys!
I know, I still should be on my Vacation, at least for all the 1,5 days that remains of it (Damn this week flew by fast) but something came up yesterday that needs some attention and clarity from my side.
So, basically there will be some Patreon changes that only affect those who have the Patreon app on IOS and does payment through it. It turns out that Apple increased their serivice fees by 30% and Patreon will build this in your monthy payments towards creators you support, including myself. Or! I can swallow this increase and it will be retracted from me diretly. Nice!
But please, keep in mind that this will only start from November, and it only affects NEW BACKERS. Not sure if this means only brand new Patreon users or if you stop your pledge and continue your support later.
You might be able to avoid all this by simply switching to a PC browser or an Android device, so there are options to say FUCK YOU APPLE!

I'm even considering to swallow the loss if there aren't that many of you that are affected by this, but I need to know a close enough number about which apps or devices you prefer most. So I would really appreciate if you could use the poll down below, thank you.

That's cool. And you can keep viewing my comics on your IPad, just don't use the app to payment processing.

I'd say create a pinned post set to public view on your patreon page telling any who pledge to USE PC, Android, Browser but not through the IOS App or Apple Pay as they'll be screwed over with higher prices because of the fee.

2024-08-13 12:53:22 +0000 UTCHey Sytri just so your readers know, Apple users can just use the browser on their device to access the reduced prices. It’s only when someone pays via the Patreon app they get slapped with the Apple protection fee.

2024-08-13 11:49:40 +0000 UTCI primarily use PC browsers but also view content on an iPad. If I had to stop using the app it wouldn’t bother me though.
