Around a year before Mugabe died he made a speaking appearance at the college I used to attend. I talked to my liberal friends about how this was kind of outrageous because of such a piece of shit he was but damn I had no idea how deep the rabbit hole went there. 2023-06-17 23:59:02 +0000 UTCSA isn’t as doomed as you might think. There’s plenty of dynamism there in the political system, the DA does a good job governing the Cape imo. ANC has their entrenched incumbent status via a combination of their patronage network and being the “independence party”, this is all steadily eroding. Things will probably be rocky for a while but there’s plenty of resilience now built into the private sector and non government institutions.
