Gintama - Ep. 227 & 228 Reaction

Gintama - Ep. 227 & 228 Reaction

If not soon sometime after you finish Gintama, definitely watch Sket Dance. Many of the same running gags are found in Sket Dance but its a little less vulgar and the characters are all written well. It takes awhile to build up compared to Gintama but im pretty sure you'll enjoy it. Character backstories are not really explained in detail until about midway if I recall and it does have a couple more serious arcs but not as serious as Gintama will be getting soon; as you can tell by the tone of the new intro. The anime sadly ended at a weird spot so you'll have to read the manga unless it returns one day. I really need to look into the manga myself.

Sket Dance is amazing in it's own way. Strangely enough its more down to earth and wholesome. Even though Sket Dance has a guy that makes potions to turn people into babies. And a shy teacher that looks like Jason Voorhees. I would rate the manga's ending as one of the best I've ever read.

Yes, I really want to know if Sorachi is just a mad genius or if he got high and was like "yo, what if I did this for my next chapter?" XD

Love Choriss arc is one of my favorites of the entire anime, next episode literally makes my cry of laughter every time i see it

Infodump: Episode 227: -Sket Dance was a slice-of-life comedy manga that ran from 2007-2013. Written by Kenta Shinohara, a former assistant to Hideaki Sorachi, it follows the Sket-Dan, a high school club whose job is to help the students and teachers with their problems. It pretty much follows the same format and has the same feel as Gintama, just in a modern day high school setting, and nowhere near as violent or dark as some of Gintama’s serious arcs. Episode 228: -Love Choris is a parody of the dating sim series for Nintendo DS systems β€œLove Plus.” The first game had been out for a couple of months when this arc was written. While nowhere near as wacky as in Gintama, it does have 3 girls to pick from and progresses in real time, and you can change her outfit to your preference when you get far enough. Hilariously, the rumored reason Sorachi decided to write this arc was to call out (in a humorous way of course) how many of his assistants and coworkers had become obsessed with the game and were slacking on their actual lives. -Pinko and Enari are based on Izumi Pinko and Kazuki Enari, respectively, real life actors that starred in a soap-drama show together (I can’t remember or find the name though).
