I wouldn't be too obssessed with the theme of the rider using the villains own power against them. That's generally true, but sometimes not and sometimes only in a roundabout way. And in at least one season it was reversed, with the villains using power stolen from the creator of the rider. So don't assume it's necessarily the case here, at least not in an overt way. It might or might not be.
