The shot of the "S.S. Essess" backlit by the rising sun is stock footage of the U.S.S. Nimitz from the movie The Final Countdown (1980). That movie starred Martin Sheen, Charlie Sheen's Father. Several aircraft carrier scenes were taken from the movie Flight of the Intruder (1991).

When a pitcher throws to a batter and it either misses the strike zone or gets hit out of play, it's called a 'ball'. Throwing 4 'balls' lets the batter walk to first base. Then you can pitch to the next batter. "Walk him, then pitch to the rhino." Lloyd Bridges was so amazing at comedy. He's the father of Jeff Bridges, 'The Dude' in 'The Big Lebowski.' He's also in 'Joe versus the Volcano' and of course, the 'Airplane!' movies.
