Always a pleasure to see someone discover the crew of Serenity. I will also recommend the Expanse as James has. While it's a more realistic take of space vs Firefly, it's a fantastic adventure.

If you rewatch the scene where Kaylee is looking at the dress in the window, you'll notice that Mal only snaps at Kaylee after she and the crew start talking about Inara and her clients. He then realises he fucked up. Jayne of course is completely oblivious... :)
