As somebody who went to school in America all the way from start to graduation, at least in the schools I went to, we never had separations of girls and boys or anything so maybe it just depends on the school but people were not as cruel at my schools xD. Surprisingly my entire experience of going to school was pretty tame hardly any fights or anything of the sort for my time in grade school.
