Rita is widely considered non-binary due to two reasoning: 1: her manner and dress code and 2: her title. Unlike Himeno whose title is "queen", Rita is refer to with a more neutral title (i,e: king of a kingdom). But... in this episode summary (and at least another really important moment for her character in season 2), TV-Asahi used "kanojo", or she/her to refer to Rita. I don't think it's a coincidence, or can be waved away as TV-Asahi being lazy. In contrast, King-Ohger is among the most carefully crafted season of all time. The national belief of Gokkan is its neutrality, due to it being the World Court. So Rita design / title is to reflect this mental state. On top of being a king, she's the world supreme jurist. So using a more neutral title would not be so strange, no? Another key moment in this episode is when Rita retreat to her hiding spot. There, she's refer to herself as "Rittan", a nick-naming scheme popular among Japanese girls and rarely, if ever, seen used by boys. When she did that in her hiding spot (ie when she's being true to herself), that saying something. One other takeaway is a different between Japan vs the West culture. Cross dressing is popular in Japan, and is seen as merely a hobby, rather than the expression of gender / sexuality in the English speaking world. Tl, dr: putting the "trans / nonbinary" title on a cross dresser is considered pretty out of the norm there I'm not saying you can't interpret her as non-binary, but those who refer to Rita as "she" tend to be given a side eyes, got called "-phobic" in an insulting manner, or straight up attacked by the English community, which bugged me a bit ngl. Especially since the things I mentioned above is nowhere to be found in the rangerwikia
