I think it's the fact that the actors performance wasn't the strongest, tbf.

His brother who he looked up to his entire childhood and who he assumed was dead/missing comes back in his life and destroys him by telling him he’s empty and that all his life he’s don’t nothing but chase his brother. And his whole schtick was being a lone wolf but once hit brother came back he dropped that act quick because he probably felt like he didn’t have to be one anymore. If any other character said it I’d agree that his change would be abrupt but I think since it’s his brother it makes sense. That’s just my opinion though
