Thanks for the song interpretation, Dasha. Many cultures have one thing in common: they make up horrible stories to scare children. My mom didn't sing us any scary lullabies except 'Rockabye Baby' but she told us her mother would tell her about 'La Llorona', a ghostly, wailing woman that snatched up wandering children and drowned them. Sweet dreams.
