One of my favorite moments is a great little Easter egg as well. When the Ares crew learns of the plan that could get them back to Mars and decide to mutiny, they show a brief message on the mission control screen: “Houston, be advised: Rich Purnell is a steely-eyed missile man.” That's a great reference to a NASA term for any badass mission controller who comes up with a brilliant solve for an issue, most notably John Aaron's 'SCE to Aux' call when Apollo 12 was struck by lightning during launch.
