2025-05-17 00:25:07 +0000 UTCJaws was the first big summer blockbuster. Star Wars would supplant it a year later. The term "blockbuster" actually derived from bombs used in World War 2. For some reason post-war movie studios adapted it to indicate popular films. English is and as always has been a bit weird.
