The Silence of the Lambs - Full Length Reaction

Comments

Not sure if old posts get visibility, but as a new patron, I've started watching some of your earlier videos and this was great! "The Silence of the Lambs" is one of my favorite movies of all time. So many great actors in the film beyond the leads, too: Charles Napier, Tracey Walter and even legendary B-movie director Roger Corman (who sadly passed away last year).

Watch " Superbad " or " meet Joe black " as a comedy if you can ( to make you laugh)

Great movie but it's creepy lol 😂

That is interesting. Thanks.

"Well, Clarice - have the lambs stopped screaming?" You handled the movie well. Jodie Foster I recommend TAXI DRIVER (1976) [AFI Top 100], which has a 12-year old Jodie Foster and a young Robert De Niro. --Nominated for Best Picture Oscar. --Foster and De Niro each nominated for an Oscar.

This was fun! Lots of great reaction moments, especially when Lecter takes off his skin mask! 😱😅 I hope we get to explore some more movies in this genre! A few good ones that come to mind are: Se7en (1995) Shutter Island (2010) The Sixth Sense (1999) Split (2016) Memento (2000) Ex Machina (2015) Lots of awards and award nominations amongst many of these too so they're all worth checking out eventually!

Btw. Both Hannibal of Carthage and Marcus Aurelius of Rome are both worthy of further study.

Uncle Phoenix

The last of the three films that have swept the top 5 categories at the Academy Awards, winning Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Screenplay, along with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and It Happened One Night (1934).

My take on the dynamic between Clarice Starling and Dr. Lecter is that her sharing of her personal tragedy of losing her father and transparency of what happened at her uncle's ranch managed to find a tiny speck of empathy in the doctor. Hannibal Lecter was a renowned psychiatrist before his subsequent arrest, conviction, and imprisonment (all told in the microfiche newspaper articles that Clarice was looking at), so he not only has a mastery of psychological techniques to thwart law enforcement and Dr. Chilton, but he also the medical training that provides anatomical expertise when it comes to his victims. Dr. Chilton was a really creepy administrator of that asylum for the criminally insane. I can't recall if he was portrayed the same way in the book. When Catherine Martin realized that Buffalo Bill wasn't going to let her go, she decided that she needed some leverage to gain the upper hand - THAT was a surprising and pleasant twist for a victim to choose to do in a film. There is a sequel (2001) with a much different directorial style by another famed director AND also a prequel (2002). Neither received the acclaim of Jonathan Demme's film but I personally thought that they were pretty good.

Hannibal is the name of a very famous Carthaginian General who was a central figure in the great wars against Rome’s empire. He is mentioned frequently in movies about Rome.

Happy Saturday, Camilla. I'm so glad that you watched The Silence of the Lambs (1991). Back in October 2022, when Addie first watched it, I did watch this movie with my girlfriend and I enjoyed it, although she's seen it before. Being a junkie for suspenseful thrillers, this is one movie that I would watch again, IMO. I even own the 2001 Special Edition DVD this Oscar-winning movie in both Widescreen (1.85:1) & Full Screen (1.33:1) formats, the latter is in open matte.
