I was away for a few days, so I'm late to the party... @Clay F listed the broad categories of commissioned officers. Below them are the "non-commissioned officers", or NCOs, which are sergeants and corporals. NCOs typically achieve their position by rising through the enlisted ranks, in contrast to commissioned officers such as lieutenants or above, who have attended a military academy or specific officer training programs. In Easy company, you'll see most sergeants in command of a specific platoon with the company.

The high-risk Market Garden operation seemed like a low point in the Allies invasion strategy and intelligence gathering. Apparently had enticing potential did not realize. The broad categories of officer ranked low to high are LIEUTENANT, CAPTAIN, MAJOR, COLONEL, GENERAL. --While Winters' promotion not expressly shown, Winters was promoted to CAPTAIN after taking out guns in episode 2 and receiving Distinguished Service Cross. Can see his captain's bars in episode 3. While there is not a ton of background, do get to see them in training (episode 1). Get a little bit of depiction of pre-training background on marines in the companion series "The Pacific" (10 episodes). Trivia: When Webster spots the road sign for Nuenen, he states: "Vincent Van Gogh was born in Nuenen." However, Van Gogh was born in Zundert, although he did live in Nuenen for two years from 1883-1885.

2025-01-21 00:53:29 +0000 UTCGreat reaction, Camilla. Replacements are at a higher risk because they haven't learned battlefield common sense. In the 2nd episode, you may recall one soldier climbing a tree and another running in the open to find a Lugar. They survived and won't be doing that again!
