I loved season 3 but I can't wait for your reaction to the next couple of seasons

Hey, I just want to give you a heads up! This tends to be a point in the show where well-meaning people begin hinting at spoilerish things coming down the road, and it will continue probably until the end of the series lol. I've seen it quite a bit with other reactors. Be careful in the comments!

Jennifer McIntyre

I almost did the same, but I could't resist haha!!! Ahhhh can't wait for next episode... arguably one of the best episodes in the entire series. Definitely top 10 material.

There is a saying that a story is often as good as the antagonist in it. And I agree with that. The vilain has to be interesting with a real personality, even in some cases he must also be struggling or we should be able to see some good in him or what path led him to become a vilain in the first place. That's one of the reason for me that explains why BTVS seasons 2 & 3 are far superior to season 1 (or to other shows from this time period). Spike, Drusilla and Angelus all had great personalities (for vilains I mean, not in real life) and their interactions with each other were quite captivating. I feel the same about Faith and Wilkins. The show managed to do it again but with completely different characters and interactions. Great writing indeed (and great acting for making it realistic and entertaining at the same time). BTVS has a lot of great writing throughout its course (by using metaphors or by addressing some issues really frontally) but it particularly shines with its characters writing. The show is character-driven, the evolution of some characters still stays some of the greatest I've seen in any TV show and it is IMO the greatest asset of the show. I'm glad that you enjoy the show but that you also seem passionate about it when you explain all the things you notice watching these episodes. This is why I subscribed in the first place and I hope you will continue to enjoy it with future seasons (IMO the best seasons are still yet to come).

Oh they're absolutely Tories.

Thank you! 😊

Buffy taking in some Faith to do what needed to be done is such a cool touch, you're right. I think I thought of it more in colours and light and dark, and the blood, but of course she had Faith's knife too.

Tyler Alexander

Yeah, I think Faith and Buffy and what both actors have done with those roles has been so strong this season. When I think back to Faith's intro, it's really been a wild ride to this point.

Tyler Alexander

Haha, understandable!

Tyler Alexander

Its so difficult, but I'm not watching until the part 2 is released and I can watch them back to back. I want to watch this so bad! lol

EEEEP! We're there - the fuffy showdown! Really enjoyed this analysis - particularly your commentary on Buffy's outfit when she arrives at Faith's. We see her in a soft, light grey top before the fight, but she deliberately changes into something that looks not dissimilar from something Faith would wear. It's a visual reminder of the way the show has mirrored Buffy and Faith throughout the season, but I also feel like it's a conscious choice on Buffy's part - wearing "Faith" clothes, wielding Faith's knife - she's emulating Faith, because she knows she has to become like Faith - a slayer capable of killing a human being - in order to win this fight. She's cold and closed off all throughout the scene, until she stabs Faith - and the look on SMG's face when Buffy takes in that she's actually done it and it was all for nothing always gets to me.

It’s so cool to see someone react who actually sees the real depth of the messages and importance of the stories being told here. It’s also so great to be able to watch someone who appreciates so much of what it does well and see them experience it for the first time as honestly the experience was pretty incredible as a first time viewer in the age range the show was geared at. Before Buffy I wasn’t really in to TV. I did like movies but I found TV very trivial and found it hard to care about characters and rather just watched things if I happened to feel like sitting down at the time. As a very independent and strong willed young female in the world, I also related so much to the experiences of the female characters. Incredibly, no matter how long it’s been since I have rewatched it, every time I forget how much I love it and when I watch it again I find different parts to love and appreciate as I change and grow as an adult. I always found the Buffy and Faith parallel storyline’s so damn unique and compelling. So rich with layers of complexity and real unique ideas and questions about choice, responsibility, power, connection and real human flaws. Also Eliza and Sarah are both huge powerhouses and really take the material and these characters to a whole other level and have you invest in them, question them, empathise with them, then feel really conflicted all over again. Their range is quite incredible. Something very few female characters did on TV at the time. It’s one of the reasons I absolutely love season 3.

My fancies are tickled - I subscribed! There’s all kinds of behind the scenes special features on the OG Buffy DVDS - the spiders the mayor ate were made out of tootsie rolls. 😂 I can’t help but have a soft spot for him and Faith, despite everything else. I’ll be checking in constantly for part two! 🍿

Great reaction! Can't wait for part II. Love the in -depth thought process on the council in the UK and Buffy and it makes me wonder. Do you think the council would be Tory? lol. sorry sorry. But yeah the globalization here... kinda never really stopped to think more beyond surface level. They do it in Supernatural too, and knowing that Kripke was inspired by Buffy in the making of Supernatural and then the writers there bring in their own British Men of Letters.... just a lot to think on. Faith's knife? So pretty. okay Late!

Tanya TMS

eee here we go!!

Tanya TMS

So excited for this reaction!
