I haven't done one of these process posts in quite some time, but thought it might be fun for this one. Many of my pictures are built up in layers like this nowadays, to make changes for different versions easier. It takes quite a bit of planning on the sketch/preparation stage, but makes the final work and saving the different versions much easier. Of course, everything is neatly placed into folder structures, so I can switch all elements that need to be changed on and off in one go. Here are the different layer groups for this picture: 1. Osaka's base drawing (the background is separate in yet another folder below). 2. First picture's background elements. Not painting what's not visible, but joining forms together for easier selection/filling. 3. First picture's foreground elements, complementing the base picture. 4-5. Background and foreground for second picture.
