With Destiny 2 behind me, it's time for a break...

I've come to really value these updates to you all. It's akin to a 'Dear Diary' moment each week, which is welcome moment of pause and reflection given how constantly crazy my life is. 

The Destiny 2 review is done (thank god)

The truth is, I had planned for Sep to be a spammy month in terms of videos, really covering Destiny mechanics and raid guides and opinion and that sort of thing, but as I played more and more of it, and I saw the glowing reviews being circulated, my spidey-sense was tingling wildly. 

Destiny 2 was not the big step forward many were praising it to be- it was in fact the opposite. And so I decided that my review needed to be the best it could possibly be to clearly argue that case, and I basically spent the entirety of the past 2-weeks working on it. 

I'm proud of how the review turned out. Very proud in fact. While AngryJoe's review was strong from a talking points perspective, and 'I hate everything's review did a fantastic job of dissecting the game's disappointing story, I think my review provided a perspective that's been missing up to this point- that of a die-hard Destiny/Bungie fanboi. 

The game will no doubt improve, but that process will be slow (and expensive). I had hoped that it would launch in a way that was so undeniably magnificent that it would wash away many of the earlier complaints that people had, but that was not the case. I'll be sticking with Destiny because I still enjoy it despite its flaws. I'd be very interested to hear your perspective on it if you've had the chance to play it. 

The Division 1.8 PTS is live and it's....concerning

While there are some great things coming in Patch 1.8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2M3hVKs4bM&t=161s) the new gear-sets and exotic weapons are completely, game-breakingly overpowered and will cause some serious long-term problems if they aren't changed. I don't have time to talk about that stuff properly atm, but I certainly hope that the community (and Massive) see these issues and address them. 

Other games

I recently went hands on with The Evil Within 2, which tbh was pretty good though I'm not a horror games kind of guy. I also got my hands on the upcoming Wolfenstein game which was EXCELLENT, and I hope to have a video out on that this week. To top it off, I played through the new Dishonored: Death of the Outsider which was a nice ending to a very solid series (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwGOiOwyI7w&t=45s)

Time for a break...

I'm going on vacation on Wed! I'm off for 2 weeks for a much-needed break. Don't expect any uploads or updates during that time, but I look forward to getting stuck into a whole bunch of stuff when I am back, including The Division's Patch 1.8, the new Plains of Eidolon expansion for Warframe, and a review for both Mario Odyssey and Star Wars Battlefront II.
