This seems more like the end of Dr. Franklin's walkabout, a way to have an internal monologue by having a character literally talk to him/her self.

He called them "Elevator scenes" because he usually put two characters who wouldn't want to talk with each other in an elevator where they have no choice. The one that comes to mind is Londo Mollari and G'Kar. Mollari's people, the Centauri occupied in very brutal colonial fashion, G'Kar's homeworld, but over time they successfully rebelled. Now they're both on Babylon 5. There is a problem and a fire and they must work together to escape. G'Kar subverts the trope by refusing to help.
