2021-04-03 04:12:23 +0000 UTCwhen he said the army cant call him taehyung its because koreans go by honorifics like how you see them calling each other hyung all the time that means like older brother. all men have to call older men hyung. so he was confused why the army who is in highschool was calling him by his first name without any honorifics. so he said the army was probably from the u.s or another oversea country. most fans who arent korean dont use honorifics unless theyre very close to the koreans theyre speaking to. i learned this through korean armys who translate for international armys. the honorifics are HYUNG for younger boys/men to speak to older boys/men. OPPA for younger girls/women to speak to older boys/men. NOONA younger boys/men to speak to older girls/women. and UNNIE for younger girls/women to speak to older girls/women. theres others but those are the most common i think.
