Quick Status Update, Coffee Jam 2022
Added 2022-10-09 16:48:27 +0000 UTCHenlo! Sorry for the radio silence, the past 2 weeks!
After over 2 years of staying clear of Covid (33 years, arguably) I finally did catch it, two weeks ago; which is why I took a week off, to recover. After the initial hit of fever and feeling very unwell, it went on to be a pretty mild case, luckily—mostly just a bunch of flu-like symptoms. And now I feel fully recovered, yay!
Then, this week, I took a break to work on something completely different for a while: After 2 years or so, I finally participated in a little game jam, again!
Coffee Jam 2022
I joined forces with my friends Mannikobunneh and Hoppelhoop to work on a lil' game for Coffee Jam 2022: You can check out the result on itch.io:

(Unfortunately, the game can be a bit picky about what browser it will run in; so alternatively you can download a Windows version that hopefully runs fine.)
Here's a few impressions of the final result!

If I had a nickel for every game I've made where you play a kaiju that munches on trucks, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's still weird it happened twice.

You may have destroyed a city in the process, but there's always time to express your true feelings

Incredibly cute character art, courtesy of the amazing Hoop!
I had a lot of fun working on this silly little game! Well, maybe except for the frantic last-minute bug fixing—but you can't have a game jam without that, hah.
It also was my first proper project using the Godot game engine, so it was a very interesting learning experience for a Unity (the engine, not the company) fanboy such as myself.
Game jams like this are a fun exercise and a nice palate cleanser; definitely want to do more of them, again, in the future!
Back to Business
Starting next week, things should be back to normal and I'll continue work on Pawperty Damage!
Before catching the 'rona I had already started working on VIP target balancing and scoring refinements, so that's where I'll continue.
After that, I will probably start looking into UI styling, for menus and such—that's one of the other things still sorely missing from the game.
See you, then!
