February 2023 Preview: The Comet Colossus

Hey everyone,

It's finally here - well almost! This will be vast majority of the February release this year.

Here is the preview for The Comet Colossus!

Lore

In the world of Edyn, there are myths telling of ancient creatures that loom over landscapes wandering eternally. They simply known as The Colossi. The origin of these creatures of flesh and stone are unknown. The strange architecture resembles no known civilization and the fur covered flesh resembles no singular creature.
What is even stranger is that they are so hard to locate. They loom over most structures and land marks, but so few have actually seen one of these creatures.
Ancient murals hewn in stone tell of these Colossi wandering in forgotten lands beyond the reach of any kingdom or empire. They believed that the gods sculpted these creatures from the earth and those that ventured to those forbidden lands.
Those murals show numerous colossi standing within this forbidden place surrounded by a great wall, but foretold of a great sundering of the wall by the blade of the 17th Colossus.

Miniature Information

Well, this is a really big miniature (a bigature?) - it was a huge project to take on and fair warning - it is quite the project for anyone to build. I understand that most may not want to undertake something like this, but it's something I wanted to try.

The Colossus itself comes in 51 pieces. A lot of them take up most of a plate and with lots of heavy supports. Many are simply the platforms that stick out. Printing this in resin is a lot of time, cleanup and resin - so you've been warned.

Be Prepared

Make sure you have some greenstuff, model knife/clippers and maybe some sandpaper. I've tried to make it as streamline as possible, but make sure you dry fit everything as you want it to line up as best as it can when put together.

Height

This thing stands almost 550mm tall and can support other miniatures on it. The base is not technically needed (with my test print), but it will be more stable/secure attached to the base.

Scaling

You can scale down the pieces about 20% to still fit models on the platforms. The presupports have not been tested for this, but they may still work.

Build Plate Size

This is different from my other builds as this was not split into pieces that fit an Elegoo Mars - instead the pieces fit on a Elegoo Mars 2 Pro (or anything larger obviously).

File Sizes

These pieces are dense. I wanted the details to come through, so each piece needs high resolution. So it may take a bit to load some of these up or download. It's a lot.
