A voice like black velvet vibrates through your frame as the man on the stage sings into the microphone, more like a dirge than a melody. His face is shadowed with long, unruly hair, lost in his own meditations, dead to the dingy club around him. Bodies are packed wall to wall, swaying to the droning rhythm of the bass beating with the thrum of their own heartbeats. He steps away from the microphone for a moment, muscles in his lean bared arms flickering as he grips the stand with a strong fist. The music picks up, industrial and aggressive, his eyes flashing scarlet in the dim light. He moves side to side as if in trance, eyes focusing nowhere. Your pulse quickens with the crescendo, and you feel the rush of adrenaline surge ice cold through your veins as you anticipate the climax.

You hardly remember how you got here- a soggy flyer stapled over a hundred other soggy flyers on a telephone pole. A cold night, nothing to do. Here, now, standing before the stage as if in prayer, you feel as if there is no where else in the world you'd rather be. And you're not quite sure who you'll be once the night is through.

Sharing a little of my writing feels like I'm going to shrivel into a raisin, but I want to help give a better vibe of my characters when I post art of them. Yuya is a young vampire, only been one for a few years after having been in a life threatening car accident and pulled from the wreckage by his soon-to-be sire. He was born in Osaka and dropped out of high school to start a band that ended up quite an underground success after moving to the States. He's long since left that life behind but still sings at his sire's bar/club and has quite the cult following despite having to keep things on the down-low on account of his newfound immortality. Yuya's stage persona is quite haunting and cold, but he's a pretty agreeable guy most of the time. Easy-going but prone to bouts of broodiness. Immortality hasn't quite set in yet for him.
