Get to know some of my vampire OCs and vote on one!
Added 2024-01-04 17:54:52 +0000 UTCHi guys!!
I'm very nervous about this so please be gentle with me lol. I don't have a ton of OCs like some people, but the ones I do have I love dearly and have thousands and thousands of words written about them tucked away in private. I'd love to be able to introduce you to some of them! I've posted some art of them before but as a person who does a lot of fanart it can feel like painting my own characters is a "waste of time" or something, so I would like to try it out.
I want to introduce you to 3 of my vampire OCs and leave it to a vote which one you'd like to see me paint and accompany with a short blurb/story first! These portraits are a little older since I haven't had time to paint them again recently.
Lots of words below, you can also vote for whoever you think is the prettiest lol.

These characters all belong to a grimdark 90's era *adult* urban horror worldbuilding project I've been working on for years in my free time. The first character, Donatello, was originally my precious PC from a Vampire: The Masquerade campaign that I created and loved so much that I wanted to port him into my own vampire world.
Donatello is a Sicilian immigrant, and was born to a family of necromancers who worked for the Mafia in the 1920's, where he was kidnapped and turned as a warning to his family for meddling with vampire affairs. He is a crime lord in his city of origin; a high level drug dealer and all-around horrible person, genuinely, though he has a soft spot for family and is an excellent chef despite not eating for over 100 years. His powers over necromancy as a vampire make him incredibly fearsome. His gold fangs are a rabbit hole in an of themselves... He's a very conservative dresser due to being riddled with scars, but I am always painting him naked to show off his chest tattoo lol. If you've seen What We Do in the Shadows, he is kind of an addict and loves drug blood
Maksim is a synthetically created vampire of his own doing via an experiment- he is a medical doctor who trained in London during the Victorian period (though his childhood origins are complicated and messy), and moved to the United States and into the wild west, performing medical procedures for free to anyone in need out of a wagon under cover of night. He's become jaded in the modern nights, having given up on humans due to seeing so many atrocities committed during the westward expansion. He now is mainly performing gristly procedures on vampires who need them, and synthesizing uh, 'controlled substances' that work on vampires for Donatello's underlings to sell. He's sweet and shy and sensitive, and a total recluse. He has some issues, as his biological functions are horribly out of whack. He doesn't drink blood directly from humans out of fear of killing them.
Yuya, the last vampire, is an underground rockstar who was vacationing in the US from Japan with his band before meeting his tragic end in a car accident. A vampire pulled him from the wreckage and turned him, though his bandmates didn't make it. He is a soulful and quiet character, and a rather new vampire. He's not particularly friendly and kind of aloof, though he is fiercely loyal to anyone who can break past his barriers. He sings in an industrial band, and is known for his deep velvety voice and poetic lyrics.
Below are some quite old concepts I did when working out the looks for each character. On the far right is Olive, who is the human who gets all kind of wrapped up in the underworld these vamps are a part of. She's basically the "main character" of the whole thing, managing a night club that is a front for vampire gatherings.

I always intended for Olive to have a "route" with each of the vampires independently. Alternate universes where she ends up with one against the others. She's tragic and a mess and definitely the kind of girl that likes to wear the same thing 5 days in a row and forgets to eat because she spends too much time with vampires. She's different with each of the boys, and their romances reflect that. I've wrote lots of branching paths with each of them.
Her romance with Donatello is harsh and kind of toxic, where she is hardened and kind of a badass. With Maksim she becomes a lot softer and cares for herself a lot more. And with Yuya, he's been pursuing Olive for years despite the dangers, as she belongs to a different vampire who is not in the picture anymore...
Romance with vampires never ends well, though, so that's certainly a theme. Who doesn't like angst?
I'd love to share some of my worldbuilding with you guys if it something you are interested in. I love vampires more than anything and have been itching to find a way to make them work in a way that blends science and magic. My vampires are tied to moon cycles and religious cults and weird science... I have pages dedicated to their stomach biology, please help me.
Anyway, please vote for the lad you are most interested in!!
Oh so much rambling. Also, news update, I am starting the planning phase for your cozy Astarion wallpaper this month!!!
Hope you all are well,
Lily
