With the conclusion of Farewell to Former comes a new opportunity to expand my skills as a composer! However, rather than arbitrarily experiment, I want to set deliberate challenges to test my creativity and incorporate new/ more advanced compositional elements.
For my reference, the objectives will be listed below:
Most of Hummer's songs (11 +) should have a quick tempo, 'high-octane' melodies to convey a sense of exhilaration and/or desperation. (Progress 0/11)
Each song should follow an AABC, ABBC, or Ternary (ABA) section structure (i.e. adopt a classical Sonata structure).
Time signatures should be altered to minimize ties and create clear distinctions between musical sections.
A majority of songs (11 +) should include tremolo, pizzicato tremolo, harmonics, accents, glissando, and other unique playing techniques in at least one string voice. (Progress 1/11)
A majority of songs (11 +) should include arpeggios and/or ostinatos in at least one voice. (Progress 1/11)
At least 2 songs should be duets. (Progress 0/2)
At least 2 songs should be piano solos. (Progress 0/2)
At least 1 song should be a four-harpsichord concerto. (Progress 0/1)
At least 1 song should use only percussion instruments. (Progress 0/1)
When all twenty songs are complete, I'll make a final post to reflect on my overall performance--armed with a list of crystallized goals, I'm eager to begin!
